Offerings for the Temple

Then King David said to the whole assembly, “My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced. The task is great because this palace is not for man, but for the LORD God. 1Ch 22:51Ki 3:72Ch 13:71Ch 28:11Ch 28:101Ch 28:81Ch 29:191Ki 8:19-20 Now with all my ability I have made provision for the house of my God—gold for the gold articles, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron, and wood for the wood, as well as onyx for the settings, turquoise, stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and slabs of marble—all in abundance. 1Ch 22:3-51Pe 4:10-112Ch 31:20-212Co 8:3Col 3:23Ecc 9:10Isa 54:11-121Ch 22:14-16

Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple: 1Ch 21:24Psa 27:41Ch 22:14-161Ch 22:4-5Pro 3:9-10Psa 122:1-9Psa 26:8Psa 84:1 three thousand talents of gold 1(the gold of Ophir) and seven thousand talents of refined silver, 2 to overlay the walls of the buildings, 1Ki 9:281Ch 22:14Job 28:16 for the gold work and the silver work, and for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now who will volunteer to consecrate himself to the LORD today?” Exo 35:5-9Ezr 1:4-6Ezr 2:68-69Ezr 7:15-16Num 7:2-3Exo 25:2-9Num 7:10-89

Then the leaders of the households, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly. 2Co 9:71Ch 27:25Isa 60:3-101Ch 27:1-15 Toward the service of God’s house they gave 5,000 talents 3and 10,000 darics of gold, 4 10,000 talents of silver, 5 18,000 talents of bronze, 6 and 100,000 talents of iron. 7 Ezr 2:69Neh 7:70-71 Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, under the care of Jehiel 8the Gershonite. 1Ch 23:81Ch 26:21-22 And the people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given to the LORD freely and wholeheartedly. Solomon Anointed King

(1 Kings 1:32–40)

The next day they offered sacrifices and presented burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. 2Ch 7:4-9Ezr 6:17Num 15:7Lev 23:13Num 15:10Num 15:51Ki 8:62-65 That day they ate and drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. 1Ch 23:11Ki 2:351Ki 1:34-39Exo 24:111Ki 1:311Ti 6:17-182Ch 7:10Deu 12:11-12

Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king, anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and Zadok as the priest.

So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him. 1Ki 2:121Ch 28:5Rom 13:11Ch 22:11Ecc 8:2-5Isa 9:6-7Psa 132:111Ch 17:11-12 All the officials and mighty men, as well as all of King David’s sons, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon. 1Ch 2:3-91Ch 22:171Ch 28:211Ki 1:50-531Ki 2:24-252Ch 30:8Ezk 17:18Gen 24:2

David’s Reign and Death

(1 Kings 2:10–12)
