Peter’s Report at Jerusalem

The apostles and brothers throughout Judea soon heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. Psa 22:27Mal 1:11Rom 15:7-12Isa 32:15Act 14:27Act 15:3Gal 1:17-22Isa 49:6 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers 1took issue with him Act 10:45Act 10:9Act 15:1Act 21:20-23Gal 2:12-14Act 15:5 and said, “You visited uncircumcised men and ate with them.” Act 10:28Gal 2:12Luk 15:21Co 5:112Jn 1:10Act 10:23Act 10:48

But Peter began and explained to them the whole sequence of events: Luk 1:3Act 14:27Jos 22:21-31Pro 15:1 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision of something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came right down to me. Act 10:9-32Amo 8:2Act 11:5-14Act 22:17Act 9:10Amo 7:4-7Ezk 2:9Jer 1:11-14 I looked at it closely and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air. Luk 4:20Act 3:4 Then I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter, kill and eat.’

‘No, Lord,’ I said, ‘for nothing impure 2or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’ Rom 14:141Co 7:14Hos 9:3Ezr 9:11-12Lev 10:10Lev 11:47Mrk 7:2

But the voice spoke from heaven a second time, ‘Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.’ Act 15:9Heb 9:13-141Ti 4:5Act 10:15Act 10:28Act 10:34-35

This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into heaven. 2Co 12:8Jhn 13:38Jhn 21:17Num 24:10

Just then three men sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying. Act 10:17-18Act 9:10-12Exo 4:14Exo 4:27 The Spirit told me to accompany them without hesitation. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s home. Act 8:29Rom 3:222Th 2:2Act 10:23Act 10:45Act 15:9Act 16:6-7Jhn 16:13 He told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. Act 10:30-32Act 10:22Act 10:3-6Act 12:11Act 9:43Heb 1:14 He will convey to you a message by which you and all your household will be saved.’ Act 10:22Act 16:15Act 16:31-341Jn 5:9-13Act 10:2Act 10:32-33Act 10:6Act 2:39

As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as He had fallen upon us at the beginning. Act 19:6Act 10:34-46Act 2:2-12Act 4:31 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, as He used to say, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 3 Act 1:5Mrk 1:8Pro 1:23Luk 3:16Mat 3:111Co 12:13Jhn 14:26Act 19:2-4 So if God gave them the same gift He gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to hinder the work of God?” Act 10:47Rom 9:20-26Act 15:8-9Dan 4:35Job 33:13Rom 11:34-36Rom 9:15-16Act 10:45

When they heard this, their objections were put to rest, and they glorified God, saying, “So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.” Rom 10:12-132Co 7:10Ezk 36:262Ti 2:25-26Act 20:21Act 5:31Jas 1:16-17Eph 3:5-8

The Church at Antioch

Meanwhile those scattered by the persecution that began with Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the message only to Jews. Act 15:22Act 15:3Act 15:35Act 21:2Act 4:36Act 11:26-27Act 13:1Act 13:4 But some of them, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks 4as well, proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus. Act 2:47Luk 1:66Act 5:141Co 3:6-71Th 1:5Act 6:7Act 9:35Isa 59:1

When news of this reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, they sent Barnabas to Antioch. Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, Act 9:11Act 9:27Act 9:30Act 21:39 and when he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. So for a full year they met together with the church and taught large numbers of people.
