The Parable of the Cooking Pot
In the ninth year, on the tenth day of the tenth month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Ezk 20:1Ezk 8:12Ki 24:12Ezk 1:2Ezk 26:1Ezk 29:1Ezk 29:17Ezk 31:1 “Son of man, write down today’s date, for on this very day the king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem. 2Ki 25:1Jer 39:1Jer 52:4Hab 2:2-3Isa 30:8-9Isa 8:1 Now speak a parable to this rebellious house and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: Ezk 11:3Ezk 17:2Ezk 20:49Ezk 2:3Ezk 2:6Isa 1:2Ezk 2:8Ezk 24:6
‘Put the pot on the fire;
put it on and pour in the water.
Put in the pieces of meat, Mic 3:2-3Ezk 22:18-22Mat 7:2
every good piece—
thigh and shoulder—
fill it with choice bones.
Take the choicest of the flock Jer 52:10Jer 52:24-27Jer 39:6Ezk 20:47Ezk 24:9-10Ezk 34:16-17Ezk 34:20Rev 19:20
and pile the fuel beneath it.
Bring it to a boil
and cook the bones in it.’
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Ezk 22:2Nam 3:12Ki 24:4Ezk 22:27Mic 7:2Nam 3:10Oba 1:111Sa 14:40-42
‘Woe to the city of bloodshed,
to the pot now rusted,
whose rust will not come off!
Empty it piece by piece;
cast no lots for its contents. 1
For the blood she shed is still within her; Lev 17:13Deu 12:161Ki 21:19Deu 12:24Isa 26:21Isa 3:9Jer 2:34Jer 6:15
she poured it out on the bare rock;
she did not pour it on the ground
to cover it with dust.

and take vengeance,
I have placed her blood on the bare rock,
so that it would not be covered.’
Yes, this is what the Lord GOD says: Ezk 24:6Hab 2:122Pe 3:7-122Th 1:8Ezk 22:19-22Ezk 22:31Isa 30:33Isa 31:9
‘Woe to the city of bloodshed!
I, too, will pile the kindling high.
Pile on the logs and kindle the fire; Jer 17:3Jer 20:5Lam 1:10Lam 2:16
cook the meat well
and mix in the spices;
let the bones be burned.

until it becomes hot and its copper glows.
Then its impurity will melt within;
its rust will be consumed.
It has frustrated every effort; Jer 5:3Jer 9:5Dan 9:13-14Hab 2:13Jer 2:13Jer 51:58Ezk 24:13Ezk 24:6
its thick rust has not been removed,
even by the fire.
Because of the indecency of your uncleanness Ezk 22:24Ezk 5:132Co 7:1Ezk 16:42Ezk 8:18Zep 3:2Ezk 24:11Hos 7:1
I tried to cleanse you,
but you would not be purified
from your filthiness.
You will not be pure again
until My wrath against you has subsided.
I, the LORD, have spoken; Mat 16:27Ezk 18:30Isa 3:111Sa 15:29Ezk 5:11Ezk 7:4Ezk 9:10Isa 55:11
the time is coming, and I will act.
I will not refrain or show pity,
nor will I relent.
I will judge you
according to your ways and deeds,’
declares the Lord GOD.”
Ezekiel’s Wife Dies
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Son of man, behold, I am about to take away the desire of your eyes with a fatal blow. But you must not mourn or weep or let your tears flow. Jer 22:10Jer 13:171Th 4:13Ezk 24:18Sng 7:10Ezk 24:21-25Jer 16:5Jer 9:1 Groan quietly; do not mourn for the dead. So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. And the next morning I did as I had been commanded. 1Co 7:29-30
Then the people asked me, “Won’t you tell us what these things you are doing mean to us?” Ezk 12:9Ezk 37:18Ezk 17:12Ezk 20:49Ezk 21:7Mal 3:13Mal 3:7-8
So I answered them, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying: Tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I am about to desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.’ Ezk 23:47Ezk 23:25Jer 7:14Psa 27:4Ezk 24:16Jer 16:3-4Jer 6:11Lam 2:6-7
Then you will do as I have done: You will not cover your lips or eat the bread of mourners.
