The Pool of Bethesda

Some time later there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Deu 16:16Exo 23:14-17Lev 23:2-4Exo 34:23Jhn 2:13Gal 4:4Mat 3:15

Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool with five covered colonnades, which in Hebrew 1is called Bethesda. 2 Neh 12:39Neh 3:1Isa 22:11Neh 3:32Act 21:40Isa 22:9Jhn 19:13Jhn 19:17 On these walkways 3lay a great number of the sick, the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed. 4 Mrk 3:1-4Luk 7:22Mat 15:30Zec 11:17Lam 3:26Jas 5:71Ki 13:4Pro 8:34

One man there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. Act 3:2Luk 8:43Mrk 9:21Act 14:8Luk 13:16Act 9:33Jhn 5:14Jhn 9:1 When Jesus saw him lying there and realized that he had spent a long time in this condition, He asked him, “Do you want to get well?” Luk 18:41Heb 4:15Heb 4:13Isa 65:1Jhn 21:17Psa 142:3Jer 13:27

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am on my way, someone else goes in before me.” Psa 72:121Co 9:24Deu 32:36Psa 142:42Co 1:8-10Rom 5:6Jhn 5:3

Then Jesus told him, “Get up, pick up your mat, and walk.” Luk 5:24Mat 9:6Mrk 2:11Act 9:34

Immediately the man was made well, and he picked up his mat and began to walk. Act 3:7-8Jhn 9:14Mrk 3:2-4Luk 13:10-16Mat 12:10-13Mrk 1:31Mrk 1:42Mrk 10:52

Now this happened on the Sabbath day, so the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “This is the Sabbath! It is unlawful for you to carry your mat.” Jer 17:21Jhn 9:16Luk 6:2Luk 13:14Mrk 3:4Mrk 2:24Neh 13:15-21Jhn 5:16

But he answered, “The man who made me well told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’” Mrk 2:9-11Jhn 9:16

“Who is this man who told you to pick it up and walk?” they asked. Mat 21:23Jdg 6:29Rom 10:21Sa 14:38

But the man who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away while the crowd was there. Luk 24:31Luk 4:30Jhn 14:9Jhn 8:59

Afterward, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you.” Jhn 8:11Lev 26:23-24Psa 118:18Mat 12:45Neh 9:28Psa 107:20-22Rev 2:21-23Isa 38:20

And the man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. Jhn 4:29Jhn 9:11-12Jhn 9:25Mrk 1:45Jhn 1:19Jhn 5:12Jhn 9:15Jhn 9:30

The Father and the Son

Now because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews began to persecute Him. Act 9:4-5Jhn 10:39Jhn 15:20Jhn 5:13Jhn 7:19-20Jhn 7:25Luk 6:11Mat 12:13 But Jesus answered them, “To this very day My Father is at His work, and I too am working.” Jhn 14:10Jhn 9:41Co 12:6Col 1:16Heb 1:3Gen 2:1-2Isa 40:26Act 14:17

Because of this, the Jews tried all the harder to kill Him. Not only was He breaking the Sabbath, but He was even calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. Jhn 10:30Jhn 10:33Jhn 19:7Jhn 8:58Jhn 14:23Jhn 5:23Jhn 7:1Jhn 7:19

So Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself, unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does. Jhn 12:49Jhn 8:28Jhn 14:10Jhn 10:18Jhn 5:28-30Rom 8:11Jhn 14:16-23Luk 21:15 The Father loves the Son and shows Him all He does. And to your amazement, He will show Him even greater works than these. Jhn 3:35Mat 3:17Pro 8:22-312Pe 1:17Jhn 15:15Jhn 17:26Jhn 1:18Jhn 10:32 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom He wishes. Furthermore, the Father judges no one, but has assigned all judgment to the Son, Jhn 5:27Act 17:312Co 5:10Mat 28:18Act 10:42Jhn 9:392Ti 4:1Rom 2:16 so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. 1Jn 2:23Luk 10:162Jn 1:9Mat 11:27Jhn 15:23-24Jer 17:5-7Luk 12:8-91Th 3:11-13

Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life. Jhn 3:36Jhn 6:401Jn 5:11-13Jhn 3:18Rom 8:1Jhn 11:26Jhn 6:47Jhn 10:27-30

Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. Jhn 5:28Eph 5:14Eph 2:5Jhn 4:23Col 2:13Jhn 8:47Rev 3:1Rom 6:4 For as the Father has life in Himself, so also He has granted the Son to have life in Himself. Testimonies about Jesus

If I testify about Myself, My testimony is not valid. Pro 27:2Jhn 8:54Jhn 8:13-14Rev 3:14 There is another who testifies about Me, and I know that His testimony about Me is valid. 1Jn 5:6-9Jhn 1:33Jhn 12:28-30Jhn 12:50Jhn 5:36-37Jhn 8:17-18Mat 17:5Mat 3:17
