God’s Judgment on the Ungodly

(2 Peter 3:1–7)

Beloved, although I made every effort to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt it necessary to write and urge you to contend earnestly for the faith entrusted once for all to the saints. 1Ti 6:12 Php 1:27 Jud 1:20 2Ti 1:13 Tit 1:4 2Ti 4:7-8 Rev 12:11 Rev 2:10 For certain men have crept in among you unnoticed—ungodly ones who were designated long ago for condemnation. Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus ¹had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe. Yet in the same way these dreamers defile their bodies, reject authority, and slander glorious beings. These men are hidden reefs ³in your love feasts, shamelessly feasting with you but shepherding only themselves. “Behold, the Lord is coming

with myriads of His holy ones

and to convict all the ungodly

of every ungodly act of wickedness

and every harsh word spoken against Him by ungodly sinners.” ⁴

A Call to Persevere

(Hebrews 10:19–39; 2 Peter 3:1–7)

But you, beloved, remember what was foretold by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ 2Pe 3:2 1Jn 4:6 Eph 4:11 Act 20:35 Mal 4:4 Eph 2:20 when they said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow after their own ungodly desires.” ⁵ 2Pe 3:3 2Ti 4:3 2Ti 3:1-5 2Ti 3:13 1Ti 4:1-2 2Pe 2:1 Act 20:29 Jud 1:16 These are the ones who cause divisions, who are worldly and devoid of the Spirit. 1Co 2:14 Pro 18:1 Rom 8:9 Jas 3:15 Heb 10:25 Hos 9:10 Jhn 3:5-6 Ezk 14:7

But you, beloved, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, Eph 6:18 Rom 8:26-27 1Co 14:15 Col 2:7 1Th 5:11 1Co 14:4-5 Rom 8:15 1Co 14:26 keep yourselves in the love of God as you await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life. 1Jn 4:16 Heb 9:28 Lam 3:25-26 2Pe 3:12 Jhn 15:9-10 2Th 3:5 Rev 12:11 Jhn 14:21
