The Defeat of Arad
When the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev, heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked Israel and captured some prisoners. Jdg 1:16Num 33:40Jos 12:14Deu 2:32Jos 11:19-20Jos 7:5Num 13:21-22Num 14:45 So Israel made a vow to the LORD: “If You will deliver this people into our hands, we will devote their cities to destruction. 1” Gen 28:20Jdg 11:301Sa 1:11Jos 6:262Sa 15:7-8Deu 13:15Lev 27:28-29Psa 116:18
And the LORD heard Israel’s plea and delivered up the Canaanites. Israel devoted them and their cities to destruction; so they named the place Hormah. 2 Num 14:45Deu 1:441Sa 30:30Psa 10:17Psa 102:17Psa 91:15
The Bronze Serpent
Then they set out from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, 3 in order to bypass the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient on the journey Exo 6:9Jdg 11:18Act 14:22Num 32:71Th 3:3-4Num 32:9Num 33:41Deu 1:40 and spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you led us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food!” Psa 78:19Exo 17:2-3Num 16:13-14Num 16:41Exo 14:11Exo 16:2-3Num 11:1-9Num 14:1-4
So the LORD sent venomous snakes among the people, and many of the Israelites were bitten and died. 1Co 10:9Deu 8:15Jer 8:17Amo 9:3-4Isa 30:6Isa 14:29Gen 3:14-15
Then the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned by speaking against the LORD and against you. Intercede with the LORD so He will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses interceded for the people. Act 8:24Exo 8:8Psa 78:34Num 11:21Ki 13:6Exo 8:281Sa 12:19-231Sa 15:24
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and mount it on a pole. When anyone who is bitten looks at it, he will live.” Jhn 3:14Psa 106:43-45Psa 145:8 So Moses made a bronze snake and mounted it on a pole. The Journey to Moab
Then the Israelites set out and camped at Oboth. Num 33:43-45 They journeyed from Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim in the wilderness opposite Moab to the east. From there they set out and camped in the Valley of Zered. Deu 2:13-14 From there they moved on and camped on the other side of the Arnon, in the wilderness that extends into the Amorite territory. Jdg 11:18Num 22:36Deu 2:24Isa 16:2Jer 48:20Num 21:14
Now the Arnon is the border between the Moabites and the Amorites. Therefore it is stated in the Book of the Wars of the LORD: 2Sa 1:18Jos 10:13
“Waheb in Suphah

even the slopes of the wadis Deu 2:18Deu 2:9Num 21:28Deu 2:29Isa 15:1
that extend to the site of Ar
and lie along the border of Moab.”
From there they went on to Beer, 4 the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people so that I may give them water.” Num 20:8Isa 12:3Isa 41:17-18Jdg 9:21Exo 17:6Isa 43:20Rev 21:6Rev 22:1 Then Israel sang this song: Exo 15:1-2Isa 12:1-2Isa 12:5Jas 5:13Jdg 5:1Psa 105:2Psa 106:12

From the wilderness the Israelites went on to Mattanah, and from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth, and from Bamoth to the valley in Moab where the top of Pisgah overlooks the wasteland. 5 Num 23:28Deu 1:5Deu 3:27Deu 34:1Deu 4:49Num 22:1Num 23:14Num 26:63
The Defeat of Sihon
(Deuteronomy 2:24–37)
Then Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying, Deu 2:26-28Jdg 11:19-21Num 20:14-19 “Let us pass through your land. We will not cut through any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will stay on the King’s Highway until we have passed through your territory.” Num 20:17
But Sihon would not let Israel pass through his territory. Instead, he gathered his whole army and went out to confront Israel in the wilderness. When he came to Jahaz, 6 he fought against Israel. Jdg 11:20Deu 29:7-8Deu 2:30-32Isa 15:4Jer 48:34Num 20:21 And Israel put him to the sword and took possession of his land, from the Arnon to the Jabbok—but only up to the border of the Ammonites, because it was fortified. 7 Amo 2:9Gen 32:22Jos 24:8Neh 9:22Psa 136:19Deu 2:31-37Deu 29:7Deu 3:16

That is why the poets say: Hab 2:6Isa 14:4Num 21:14
“Come to Heshbon, let it be rebuilt;
let the city of Sihon be restored.

The Defeat of Og
(Deuteronomy 3:1–11)
So Israel lived in the land of the Amorites. Deu 3:16-17Jos 12:1-6Jos 13:8-12Num 32:33-42 After Moses had sent spies to Jazer, Israel captured its villages and drove out the Amorites who were there. Jer 48:32Num 32:1Num 32:35Isa 16:8-9Num 32:3
