Cleansing the Camps
(Leviticus 13:1–46)
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Command the Israelites to send away from the camp anyone with a skin disease, 1 anyone who has a bodily discharge, and anyone who is defiled by a dead body. Lev 13:46Lev 21:1Num 12:14Num 9:6-10Num 31:192Ki 7:3Deu 24:8-9Lev 15:2-27 You must send away male and female alike; send them outside the camp so they will not defile their camp, where I dwell among them.” Deu 23:14Lev 26:11-12Num 35:34Psa 68:18Rev 21:31Co 5:7-131Ki 7:32Co 6:16-17
So the Israelites did this, sending such people outside the camp. They did just as the LORD had instructed Moses.
Restitution for Trespasses
(Luke 19:1–10)
And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites that when a man or woman acts unfaithfully against the LORD by committing any sin against another, that person is guilty Lev 5:1-4Lev 5:14 and must confess the sin he has committed. He must make full restitution, add a fifth to its value, and give all this to the one he has wronged. Lev 5:5Jos 7:19Lev 26:40Lev 6:4-7Lev 7:7Luk 19:8Pro 28:131Jn 1:8-10
But if the man has no relative to whom restitution can be made for the wrong, the restitution belongs to the LORD and must be given to the priest along with the ram of atonement, by which the atonement is made for him. Lev 6:6-7Lev 7:7Lev 25:25-26
Every sacred contribution the Israelites bring to the priest shall belong to him. Deu 18:3-4Exo 29:28Lev 6:17-18Lev 7:6-14Num 18:191Co 9:7-13Ezk 44:29-30Lev 10:13 Each man’s sacred gifts are his own, but whatever he gives to the priest will belong to the priest.” Lev 10:13
The Adultery Test
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and tell them that if any man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him Num 5:19-20Pro 2:16-17 by sleeping with another man, and it is concealed from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she was not caught in the act), Lev 18:20Lev 20:10Pro 30:20Pro 7:18-19 and if a feeling of jealousy comes over her husband and he suspects his wife who has defiled herself—or if a feeling of jealousy comes over him and he suspects her even though she has not defiled herself— Pro 6:34Sng 8:61Co 10:22Num 5:30Zep 3:8 then he is to bring his wife to the priest. He must also bring for her an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour. 2 He is not to pour oil over it or put frankincense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, an offering of memorial as a reminder of iniquity.
The priest is to bring the wife forward and have her stand before the LORD. Heb 13:4Jer 17:10Lev 1:3Rev 2:22-23 Then he is to take some holy water in a clay jar and put some of the dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. Exo 30:18Jhn 8:6Jer 17:13Jhn 8:8Job 2:12Lam 3:29Num 19:2-9
