Submission to Authorities
(1 Peter 2:13–20)
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God. Tit 3:11Pe 2:13-17Dan 2:21Jhn 19:11Pro 8:15-16Jer 27:5-8Jud 1:8Dan 5:18-23 Consequently, whoever resists authority is opposing what God has set in place, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 1Pe 2:13Tit 3:1Jas 3:1Rom 13:5Luk 20:47Mrk 12:40Mat 23:13Jer 23:8-17
For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the one in authority? Then do what is right, and you will have his approval. Ecc 10:4-61Pe 2:13-14Pro 14:35Pro 20:2Deu 25:11Pe 3:13-14Jer 22:15-18Rom 13:4 For he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not carry the sword in vain. He is God’s servant, an agent of retribution to the wrongdoer. Rom 12:192Ch 19:6Pro 24:23-24Pro 16:14Pro 20:21Th 4:6Isa 1:17Psa 82:2-4
Therefore it is necessary to submit to authority, not only to avoid punishment, but also as a matter of conscience. 1Pe 2:19Act 24:16Ecc 8:21Pe 2:13-151Sa 24:5-6Tit 3:1-21Pe 3:16Heb 13:18 This is also why you pay taxes. For the authorities are God’s servants, who devote themselves to their work. Love Fulfills the Law
(Leviticus 19:9–18)
Be indebted to no one, except to one another in love. For he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
