The Bride’s Dream

On my bed at night 1Pe 1:8Sng 1:7Sng 5:6Isa 26:9Isa 55:6Psa 130:1-2Psa 22:2Sng 5:8

I sought the one I love;

I sought him,

but did not find him.

I will arise now and go about the city, Eph 5:14Rom 13:111Co 15:34Isa 64:7Jer 5:1Jhn 1:6Luk 14:21-23Mat 26:40-41

through the streets and squares.

I will seek the one I love.

So I sought him but did not find him.

I encountered the watchmen on their rounds of the city: Sng 5:7Ezk 33:2-9Isa 21:11-12Isa 21:6-8Jhn 20:15Ezk 3:17Heb 13:17Isa 56:10

“Have you seen the one I love?”

I had just passed them when I found the one I love. Pro 8:17Mat 7:7Pro 4:13Sng 6:12Sng 8:2Isa 45:19Isa 55:6-7Jer 29:13

I held him and would not let go

until I had brought him to my mother’s house,

to the chamber of the one who conceived me.

O daughters of Jerusalem, I adjure you Sng 2:7Sng 8:4Mic 4:8

by the gazelles and does of the field:

Do not arouse or awaken love

until the time is right.

Solomon Arrives on His Wedding Day

Who is this coming up from the wilderness Sng 8:5Rev 12:14Sng 1:13Sng 4:6Deu 8:2Isa 43:19Jer 2:2Jer 31:2

like a column of smoke,

scented with myrrh and frankincense

from all the spices of the merchant?

Behold, it is Solomon’s carriage, 1 1Ki 14:271Ki 9:221Sa 14:521Sa 28:21Sa 8:162Ki 6:17Heb 1:14Sng 1:16

escorted by sixty of the mightiest men of Israel.

All are skilled with the sword, Psa 45:31Th 5:6-8Eph 6:16-18Isa 27:3Neh 4:21-22Psa 149:5-9Psa 91:5

experienced in warfare.

Each has his sword at his side

prepared for the terror of the night.

King Solomon has made his carriage Sng 3:72Sa 23:5Rev 14:6

out of the timber of Lebanon.

He has made its posts of silver, 1Ti 3:15-16Eph 3:18-19Psa 87:3Rev 1:5Rev 3:12Rom 5:8Sng 1:5

its base of gold, its seat of purple fabric.

Its interior is inlaid with love

by the daughters of Jerusalem.

Come out, O daughters of Zion, Isa 62:5Hos 2:19-20Jer 2:2Heb 13:13Mat 12:42Psa 9:14Rev 1:7Zep 3:17

and gaze at King Solomon,

wearing the crown his mother bestowed

on the day of his wedding—

the day of his heart’s rejoicing.
