The Doomed Flock

Open your doors, O Lebanon, Jer 22:23Jer 22:6-7Luk 21:23-24Deu 32:22Hab 2:17Hab 2:8Hag 1:8Luk 19:41-44

the majestic trees are ruined!

Wail, O oaks of Bashan,

for the dense forest has been cut down!

Listen to the wailing of the shepherds, Jer 50:44Jer 25:34-361Sa 4:21-22Act 22:21-22Act 6:11-14Act 7:52Amo 8:8Ezk 19:3-6

for their glory is in ruins.

Listen to the roaring of the young lions,

for the thickets of the Jordan are destroyed.

This is what the LORD my God says: “Pasture the flock marked for slaughter, Zec 11:7Mat 23:37Rom 15:8Eph 1:3Ezk 34:23-24Isa 40:9-11Isa 49:4-5Jhn 20:17 whose buyers slaughter them without remorse. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be the LORD, for I am rich!’ Even their own shepherds have no compassion on them. Jer 50:71Ti 6:5-10Hos 12:82Ki 4:12Pe 2:3Deu 29:19-21Ezk 22:25-27Ezk 34:10

For I will no longer have compassion on the people of the land, declares the LORD, but behold, I will cause each man to fall into the hands of his neighbor and his king, who will devastate the land, and I will not deliver it from their hands.” Jer 13:14Heb 10:26-31Isa 9:19-21Mat 22:7Mic 5:8Psa 50:221Th 2:16Dan 9:26-27

So I pastured the flock marked for slaughter, especially the afflicted of the flock. Then I took for myself two staffs, calling one Favor and the other Union, and I pastured the flock. Isa 11:4Zec 11:14Zec 11:4Ezk 37:16-23Eph 2:13-16Isa 61:1Psa 23:4Zec 11:10-11 And in one month I dismissed three shepherds. Jhn 15:18Jhn 7:7Isa 49:7Mat 23:34-36Hos 5:7Jhn 15:23-25Luk 19:14Deu 32:19

My soul grew impatient with the flock, and their souls also detested me. Then I said, “I will no longer shepherd you. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish; and let those who remain devour one another’s flesh.” Jer 43:11Mat 13:10-11Rev 22:11Act 13:46-47Act 28:26-28Deu 28:53-56Ezk 5:10Isa 9:19-21

Thirty Pieces of Silver

(Matthew 27:3–10)

Next I took my staff called Favor and cut it in two, 2 revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations. Zec 11:7Psa 89:39Heb 8:8-13Jer 14:21Jer 31:31-321Sa 2:30Heb 7:17-22Luk 21:5-6 It was revoked on that day, and so the afflicted of the flock who were watching me knew that it was the word of the LORD. Then I told them, “If it seems right to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them.” So they weighed out my wages, thirty pieces of silver. Mat 26:15Exo 21:32Luk 22:3-6Mrk 14:10-11Jhn 13:27-30Gen 37:281Ki 21:2Jhn 13:2

And the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—this magnificent price at which they valued me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD. Mat 27:3-10Act 1:18-19Isa 53:2-3Act 4:11Isa 54:7-10Mat 27:12

Then I cut in two my second staff called Union, breaking the brotherhood between Judah and Israel. Isa 9:21Jas 3:16Act 23:7-10Ezk 37:16-20Gal 5:15Isa 11:13Jas 3:14Jas 4:1-3

And the LORD said to me: “Take up once more the equipment of a foolish shepherd.
