Agate

Agate is a hard, semiprecious stone. It is a variety of chalcedony, which is a type of quartz. It is made of silicon and oxygen. The stone is partly transparent and often has layers of different colors.

Agate was one of the stones on the high priest’s breastpiece (Exodus 28:19; 39:12).
