Birzaith, Birzavith

Birzaith is a son of Malchiel from the tribe of Asher (1 Chronicles 7:31). However, other lists do not mention him (Genesis 46:17; Numbers 26:44–47). For this reason, Birzaith may have been the name of a city that Malchiel founded.

The King James Version calls it “Birzavith.” If Birzaith was a city, it may have been northwest of Bethel, near Tyre. The modern town of Birzeit may stand at the same location.
