Calneh

A city in Babylon (Genesis 10:10).

A city identified as Kullani (Kullan Koy), about 32.2 kilometers (20 miles) north of Aleppo in northern Syria. Isaiah 10:9 supports this northern location by linking Calno with Carchemish, about 80.5 kilometers (50 miles) to the northeast. Amos 6:2 may also support it by listing places from north to south: Calneh, then Hamath, and then Gath.

Calneh in Ezekiel 27:23 may refer to the same general area and may be another form of the name Calneh. Kullani was captured by Tiglath-pileser III, king of Assyria, around 741 BC.
