House of the Forest of Lebanon

The House of the Forest of Lebanon was a large building in Solomon’s palace complex in Jerusalem. It was probably given this name because its many cedar pillars looked like a forest. The building was about 45.7 meters (150 feet) long, 22.9 meters (75 feet) wide, and 13.7 meters (45 feet) high (1 Kings 7:2–5).

Solomon placed 300 gold shields in the palace, and its drinking vessels were made of gold. He also had a large ivory throne covered with gold (2 Chronicles 9:16–20). The palace was also used to store weapons (Isaiah 22:8).

Some translations call it the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.
