Jacinth

Modern jacinth is a reddish-orange or reddish-brown form of zircon.

In the Old Testament, some Bible translations use “jacinth” for one of the stones on the high priest’s breastpiece (Exodus 28:19; 39:12). The Hebrew word refers to an ancient stone whose exact color and modern identity are uncertain.

In the New Testament, “jacinth” translates the Greek word hyakinthos, which may describe a blue or violet-colored stone. Revelation names it as one of the foundation stones of the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:20). Scholars are not certain which modern mineral this stone was
