Jasper

Modern jasper is a hard, opaque form of quartz. It can have many colors, including red, brown, yellow, and green.

In the Old Testament, jasper was one of the stones on the high priest’s breastpiece (Exodus 28:20; 39:13).

In the New Testament, “jasper” translates the Greek word iaspis. Revelation compares God’s appearance to jasper and describes jasper as part of the New Jerusalem (Revelation 4:3; 21:11, 18–19). The biblical stone may not be the same as modern jasper, since Revelation describes it as clear and shining.
