Koine Greek

Koine is a form of the Greek language that was widely used throughout the Near East and Mediterranean regions during the time of the Roman Empire. The word koine means "common" in Greek. This was the form of Greek used to write the New Testament and translate the Septuagint (a Greek translation of the Old Testament).
