Lament, Lamentation

A lament or lamentation is an expression of deep sorrow (strong sadness), often spoken or sung. People use laments to cry out to God in times of pain, loss, or trouble.

In the Bible, laments often include honest words of grief, questions, and requests for help. They may also express trust that God will hear and respond.
