Mecherathite

Mecherathite is a name used to describe Hepher, one of David's mighty men, in 1 Chronicles 11:36. In the parallel passage in 2 Samuel 23:34, the corresponding entry reads differently ("Eliphelet son of Ahasbai, son of the Maacathite"). Many scholars think the two readings reflect a copying difference.

Mecherathite may mean a person from a place or family called Mecherah (or Mekerah).
