சேனைகளின் யெகோவாவே, தேவரீர் உம்முடைய அடியாளின் சிறுமையைக் கண்ணோக்கிப் பார்த்து, உம்முடைய அடியாளை மறக்காமல் நினைத்தருளி, உமது அடியாளுக்கு ஒரு ஆண்பிள்ளையைக் கொடுத்தால், அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கும் எல்லா நாட்களும் நான் அவனைக் யெகோவாவுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன்; அவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் சவரகன் கத்தி படுவதில்லை என்று ஒரு பொருத்தனை செய்தாள்.

And she made a vow, pleading, “O LORD of Hosts, if only You will look upon the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, not forgetting Your maidservant but giving her a son, then I will dedicate him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall ever come over his head.”
