தாவீது எருசலேமிலுள்ள தன்னுடைய வீட்டிற்கு வந்தபோது, வீட்டைக்காக்க ராஜா வைத்துப்போன பத்து மறுமனையாட்டிகளையும் வரவழைத்து, அவர்களை ஒரு காவல் வீட்டிலே வைத்துப் பராமரித்தான்; அதன்பின்பு அவர்களிடம் அவன் உறவு வைத்துக்கொள்ளவில்லை; அப்படியே அவர்கள் மரணமடைகிற நாட்கள்வரை அடைக்கப்பட்டு, உயிரோடிருக்கிற நாட்களெல்லாம் விதவைகளைப்போல இருந்தார்கள்.

When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to care for the palace, and he placed them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but he no longer slept with them. They were confined until the day of their death, living as widows.
