இந்த நகரத்தில் தங்குகிறவன் பட்டயத்தாலும், பஞ்சத்தாலும், கொள்ளைநோயாலும் சாவான்; உங்களை முற்றுகைபோடும் கல்தேயர் வசமாய்ப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய்விடுகிறவனோ பிழைப்பான்; அவன் பிராணன் அவனுக்குக் கிடைத்த கொள்ளைப்பொருளைப்போல் இருக்கும்.

Whoever stays in this city will die by sword and famine and plague, but whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who besiege you will live; he will retain his life like a spoil of war.
