இயேசு அவனைப் பார்த்து: இந்த இரவிலே சேவல் கூவுகிறதற்கு முன்னே, நீ என்னை மூன்றுமுறை மறுதலிப்பாய் என்று, உண்மையாகவே உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
