The Ravens Feed Elijah

Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was among the settlers of Gilead, 1 said to Ahab, “As surely as the LORD lives—the God of Israel before whom I stand—there will be neither dew nor rain in these years except at my word!” Luk 4:25-26Jas 5:17Luk 1:171Ki 22:142Ki 3:141Ki 18:1Act 27:23Deu 10:8

Then a revelation from the LORD came to Elijah: Jer 11:1Jer 18:11Ch 17:31Ki 12:22Hos 1:1-2Jer 7:1 “Leave here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan. 2 1Ki 22:25Heb 11:38Jer 36:19Jer 36:26Jhn 8:59Psa 31:20Psa 83:3Rev 12:14 And you are to drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” 1Ki 17:9Psa 147:9Job 38:41Mat 4:41Ki 19:5-8Psa 33:8-9Mat 4:11Job 34:29

So Elijah did what the LORD had told him, and he went and lived by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan. 1Ki 19:9Jhn 15:14Mat 16:24Pro 3:5 The ravens would bring him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he would drink from the brook. The Widow of Zarephath

Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah: Gen 22:141Ki 17:2Heb 13:6Isa 41:17 “Get up and go to Zarephath of Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” Luk 4:26Oba 1:202Co 4:71Ki 17:4Mat 15:21-22Rom 4:17-21Jdg 7:2Jdg 7:4

So Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering sticks. Elijah called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, so that I may drink.” Gen 24:17Jhn 4:72Co 11:27Gen 21:15Heb 11:37 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread.” 1Ki 17:91Ki 18:4Gen 18:5Gen 24:18-19Heb 13:2Mat 10:42Mat 25:35-40

But she replied, “As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks to take home and prepare a meal for myself and my son, so that we may eat it and die.” Mat 15:33-341Ki 17:12Ki 4:2-7Ezk 12:18-19Gen 21:161Sa 14:391Sa 14:451Sa 20:21

“Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you have said. But first make me a small cake of bread from what you have, and bring it out to me. Afterward, make some for yourself and your son, Mal 3:10Mat 6:331Pe 1:72Ch 20:172Ki 6:16Act 27:24Exo 14:13Gen 22:1-2 for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be exhausted and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain upon the face of the earth.’” Mat 15:36-38Mat 14:17-202Ki 4:42-442Ki 3:162Ki 7:11Ki 17:42Ki 9:62Ki 4:2-7

So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and there was food every day for Elijah and the woman and her household. Elijah Raises the Widow’s Son

Later, the son of the woman who owned the house became ill, and his sickness grew worse and worse, until no breath remained in him. 1Pe 1:71Pe 4:122Ki 4:18-20Dan 5:23Gen 22:1-2Jas 1:12Jas 1:2-4Jas 2:26 “O man of God,” said the woman to Elijah, “what have you done to me? But Elijah said to her, “Give me your son.” 2Ki 4:322Ki 4:102Ki 4:21Act 9:37

So he took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed.
