Pharaoh Pursues the Israelites
Then the LORD said to Moses, Exo 12:1Exo 13:1 “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. You are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal-zephon. Jer 44:1Num 33:7-8Exo 13:17-18Exo 14:9Jer 46:14Ezk 29:10
For Pharaoh will say of the Israelites, ‘They are wandering the land in confusion; the wilderness has boxed them in.’ Act 4:28Ezk 38:17Psa 139:41Sa 23:231Sa 23:7Deu 31:21Exo 7:3-4Ezk 38:10-11 And I will harden 1Pharaoh’s heart so that he will pursue them. But I will gain honor by means of Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.” Rom 9:22-23Exo 7:5Rom 9:17Exo 7:3Exo 9:16Exo 4:21-31Exo 7:17Ezk 28:22
So this is what the Israelites did.
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have released Israel from serving us.” Psa 105:25Exo 12:33Jer 34:10-17Luk 11:24-262Pe 2:20-22
So Pharaoh prepared his chariot and took his army with him. He took 600 of the best chariots, and all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. Exo 15:4Psa 20:7Exo 14:23Isa 37:24Jdg 4:15Jdg 4:3Psa 68:17Jos 17:16-18
And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out defiantly. 2 Act 13:17Num 33:3Deu 26:8Exo 13:16Exo 14:4Exo 6:1Deu 32:27Exo 13:18 The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops—pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi-hahiroth, opposite Baal-zephon. Exo 15:9Jos 24:6Exo 14:2
As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up and saw the Egyptians marching after them, and they were terrified and cried out to the LORD. Psa 107:6Jos 24:7Neh 9:9Psa 34:17Isa 51:12-13Mat 8:25-262Ch 18:31Mat 14:30-31 They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us into the wilderness to die? But Moses told the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the LORD’s salvation, which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. 2Ch 20:172Ch 20:15Exo 14:30Isa 41:10-142Ki 6:16Lam 3:26Isa 35:4Psa 27:1-2 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Deu 3:22Deu 20:42Ch 20:17Deu 1:30Jos 23:3Isa 30:15Jos 23:10Exo 15:3
Parting the Red Sea
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the Israelites to go forward. Jos 7:10Ezr 10:4-5Exo 17:4Neh 9:9 And as for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. And the angel 3of God, who had gone before the camp of Israel, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from before them and stood behind them, Isa 63:9Exo 32:34Exo 23:20-21Num 20:16Exo 13:21-22Exo 14:24 so that it came between the camps of Egypt and Israel. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove back the sea with a strong east wind that turned it into dry land.
