Israel’s Punishment

Do not rejoice, O Israel, Hos 10:5Hos 4:12Isa 17:11Jas 4:16Jer 44:17Amo 3:2Amo 6:13Amo 6:6-7

with exultation like the nations,

for you have played the harlot against your God;

you have made love for hire on every threshing floor.

The threshing floor and winepress will not feed them, Hos 2:9Amo 4:5-11Hag 1:9Hag 2:16Hos 2:12Isa 24:7-12Jol 1:3-7Jol 1:9-13

and the new wine will fail them.

They will not remain Ezk 4:13Hos 8:13Lev 25:23Jer 2:7Hos 7:111Ki 9:72Ki 17:6Dan 1:8

in the land of the LORD;

Ephraim 1will return to Egypt

and eat unclean food in Assyria.

They will not pour out wine offerings to the LORD, Deu 26:14Hos 8:13Jer 6:20Hag 2:13-14Ezk 24:17Hos 3:4Jol 2:14Amo 4:4-5

and their sacrifices will not please Him,

but will be to them like the bread of mourners;

all who eat will be defiled.

For their bread will be for themselves;

it will not enter the house of the LORD.

What will you do on the appointed day, Isa 10:3Hos 2:11Jer 5:31Jol 1:13

on the day of the LORD’s feast?

For even if they flee destruction, Hos 10:8Isa 5:6Isa 7:23Hos 7:16Hos 8:13Hos 9:31Sa 13:62Ki 13:7

Egypt will gather them

and Memphis will bury them.

Their precious silver will be taken over by thistles,

and thorns will overrun their tents.

The days of punishment have come; Act 26:24-25Mic 7:42Ki 9:11Mrk 3:212Co 5:13Ezk 13:3Ezk 14:9-10Isa 10:3

the days of retribution have arrived—

let Israel know it.

The prophet is called a fool,

and the inspired man insane,

because of the greatness

of your iniquity and hostility.

The prophet is Ephraim’s watchman, Ezk 3:17Hos 5:1Ezk 33:7Isa 62:6Jhn 15:24Lam 4:13Mic 7:41Ki 22:22

along with my God, 2

yet the snare of the fowler lies on all his paths.

Hostility is in the house of his God!

They have deeply corrupted themselves Hos 10:9Jdg 19:16Hos 8:13Isa 31:6Isa 24:5

as in the days of Gibeah;

He will remember their guilt;

He will punish their sins.

I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. Jer 11:13Hos 4:14Num 25:1-18Ezk 20:8Hos 2:15Jer 2:2-3Mic 7:1Psa 106:28-29

I saw your fathers as the firstfruits

of the fig tree in its first season.

But they went to Baal-peor,

and consecrated themselves to Shame;

so they became as detestable

as the thing they loved.

Ephraim’s glory will fly away like a bird, Deu 28:18Gen 41:52Hos 10:5Hos 4:7Hos 9:14Amo 1:13Deu 28:57Deu 33:17

with no birth, no pregnancy, and no conception.

Even if they raise their children, Hos 7:13Deu 31:17Deu 32:25Hos 9:161Sa 16:141Sa 28:15-162Ki 17:182Ki 17:23

I will bereave them of each one.

Yes, woe be to them

when I turn away from them!

I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, Ezk 26:1-21Ezk 27:32Ki 15:16Amo 7:17Hos 10:14Hos 13:16Hos 13:8Hos 9:16

planted in a meadow.

But Ephraim will bring out

his children for slaughter.

Give them, O LORD— Luk 23:291Co 7:26Luk 21:23Hos 9:11Hos 9:13Hos 9:16Job 21:10Mat 24:19

what will You give?

Give them wombs that miscarry

and breasts that dry up!

All their evil appears at Gilgal, Hos 4:15Isa 1:231Sa 7:16Amo 5:5Hos 12:11Jos 4:19-24Mic 6:5Zep 3:3

for there I hated them.

I will drive them from My house

for the wickedness of their deeds.

I will no longer love them;

all their leaders are rebellious.

Ephraim is struck down; Hos 9:11-13Ezk 24:21Isa 5:24Hos 5:11Hos 8:7Isa 40:24Job 18:16Mal 4:1

their root is withered;

they cannot bear fruit.

Even if they bear children,

I will slay the darlings of their wombs.

My God will reject them Deu 28:64-65Hos 7:13Act 3:23Isa 48:18Mic 7:7Zec 1:4Zec 7:11-14Amo 9:9

because they have not obeyed Him;

and they shall be wanderers

among the nations.
