God’s Vengeance on the Nations
Who is this coming from Edom, Rev 19:13Isa 34:5-6Psa 137:7Isa 63:2-3Amo 1:11-12Num 23:19Sng 8:5Mat 21:10
from Bozrah with crimson-stained garments?
Who is this robed in splendor,
marching in the greatness of His strength?
“It is I, proclaiming vindication, 1
mighty to save.”
Why are Your clothes red, Rev 19:13Rev 19:15
and Your garments like one who treads the winepress?
“I have trodden the winepress alone, Rev 19:13-15Rev 14:19-20Mal 4:3Mic 7:10Lam 1:15Zec 10:5Isa 63:6Ezk 38:18-22
and no one from the nations was with Me.
I trampled them in My anger
and trod them down in My fury;
their blood spattered My garments,
and all My clothes were stained.
For the day of vengeance was in My heart, Isa 34:8Isa 61:2Isa 35:4Jer 51:6Rev 18:20Luk 21:22Rev 11:13Rev 6:9-17
and the year of My redemption had come.
I looked, but there was no one to help; Psa 44:3Hos 1:7Isa 40:10Isa 41:28Isa 50:2Isa 52:10Isa 59:16-18Psa 98:1
I was appalled that no one assisted.
So My arm brought Me salvation,
and My own wrath upheld Me.
I trampled the nations in My anger; Isa 49:26Rev 14:10Rev 16:19Isa 25:10-12Isa 26:5-6Isa 29:9Isa 51:21-23Isa 63:2-3
in My wrath I made them drunk
and poured out their blood on the ground.”
God’s Mercies Recalled
I will make known the LORD’s loving devotion Eph 2:4Psa 86:5Psa 86:15Eph 1:6-7Rom 2:41Ki 8:66Ezk 16:6-14Psa 51:1
and His praiseworthy acts,
because of all that the LORD has done for us—
the many good things for the house of Israel
according to His great compassion and loving devotion.
For He said, “They are surely My people, Gen 17:7Exo 6:7Isa 12:21Jn 4:14Col 3:9Deu 33:29Eph 4:25Exo 19:5-6
sons who will not be disloyal.”
So He became their Savior.
In all their distress, He too was afflicted, Exo 33:14Exo 23:20-21Mal 3:1Act 12:11Act 7:34-35Deu 1:31Deu 7:7-8Exo 14:19
and the Angel of His Presence 2saved them.
In His love and compassion He redeemed them;
He lifted them up and carried them
all the days of old.
But they rebelled Act 7:51Eph 4:30Psa 78:56Psa 78:40Jer 21:5Ezk 20:8Neh 9:16-17Psa 51:11
and grieved His Holy Spirit.
So He turned and became their enemy,
and He Himself fought against them.
Then His people remembered the days of old, Num 11:17Exo 14:22Hag 2:5Num 11:25Psa 77:20Luk 1:54-55Num 11:29Zec 4:6
the days of Moses.
Where is He who brought them through the sea
with the shepherds of His flock?
Where is the One who set
His Holy Spirit among them,
who sent His glorious arm Exo 15:16Jos 3:16Psa 78:13Exo 14:16-17Exo 14:21-22Isa 55:13Neh 9:11Psa 114:5-7
to lead them by the right hand of Moses,
who divided the waters before them
to gain for Himself everlasting renown,
who led them through the depths Jer 31:9Hab 3:15Psa 106:9
like a horse in the wilderness,
so that they did not stumble?
Like cattle going down to the valley, Isa 63:12Jos 23:1Heb 4:8-111Ch 29:132Sa 7:23Eph 1:12Eph 1:6Jos 22:4
the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest.
You led Your people this way
to make for Yourself a glorious name.
A Prayer for Mercy
(Jeremiah 14:19–22)
Look down from heaven and see, Deu 26:15Jer 31:20Hos 11:8Psa 123:1Psa 80:14Psa 33:141Jn 3:17Php 2:1
from Your holy and glorious habitation.
Where are Your zeal and might?
Your yearning and compassion for me are restrained.
Yet You are our Father, Isa 64:8Mal 2:10Deu 32:6Jer 3:19Isa 41:14Isa 44:6Mal 1:61Ch 29:10
though Abraham does not know us
and Israel does not acknowledge us.
You, O LORD, are our Father;
our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.
Why, O LORD, do You make us stray from Your ways Isa 6:10Ezk 14:7-9Jos 11:20Deu 2:30Isa 29:13Jhn 12:40Num 10:36Psa 90:13
and harden our hearts from fearing You?
Return, for the sake of Your servants,
the tribes of Your heritage.
For a short while Your people possessed Your holy place, Psa 74:3-71Pe 2:9Dan 8:24Deu 26:19Deu 7:6Exo 19:4-6Isa 62:12Isa 64:11-12
but our enemies have trampled Your sanctuary.
We have become like those You never ruled, Rom 9:4Act 14:16Psa 135:4Psa 79:6Act 15:17Amo 9:12Eph 2:12Isa 65:1
like those not called by Your name.
