A Message to Ahaz

Now in the days that Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, Rezin king of Aram 1marched up to wage war against Jerusalem. He was accompanied by Pekah son of Remaliah the king of Israel, but he could not overpower the city. 2Ki 15:372Ki 16:1Isa 1:1Isa 7:4-9Isa 8:6Isa 8:9-10Psa 83:3-52Ch 28:1-6

When it was reported to the house of David that Aram was in league with Ephraim, 2 the hearts of Ahaz and his people trembled like trees in the forest shaken by the wind. Isa 7:13Isa 8:12Isa 9:9Pro 28:11Ki 11:321Ki 12:161Ki 13:22Ch 25:10

Then the LORD said to Isaiah, “Go out with your son Shear-jashub 3to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct that feeds the upper pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field, 2Ki 18:17Isa 36:2Rom 9:27Isa 6:132Ki 20:20Exo 7:15Isa 10:21Isa 55:7 and say to him: Calm down and be quiet. Do not be afraid or disheartened over these two smoldering stubs of firewood—over the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah. Isa 35:4Deu 20:3Lam 3:26Isa 30:15Mat 24:6Exo 14:13-14Zec 3:22Ch 20:17 For Aram, along with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has plotted your ruin, saying: Psa 83:3-4Zec 1:15Nam 1:11Psa 2:2 ‘Let us invade Judah, terrorize it, and divide it 4among ourselves. Then we can install the son of Tabeal over it as king.’ But this is what the Lord GOD says: Isa 8:10Lam 3:37Isa 46:10-11Psa 33:11Pro 21:30Act 4:25-28Isa 37:29Psa 2:4-6

‘It will not arise;

it will not happen.

For the head of Aram is Damascus, Isa 17:1-3Gen 14:152Ki 17:5-232Sa 8:6Ezr 4:2Hos 1:6-10Isa 8:4

and the head of Damascus is Rezin.

Within sixty-five years

Ephraim will be shattered as a people.

The head of Ephraim is Samaria, Heb 11:6Rom 11:202Ch 20:201Jn 5:10Act 27:25Isa 30:12-14Isa 8:6-81Ki 16:24-29

and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah.

If you do not stand firm in your faith,

then you will not stand at all.’”

The Sign of Immanuel

(Matthew 1:18–25)

Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz, saying, Isa 8:5Hos 13:2Isa 1:13Isa 1:5Isa 10:20 “Ask for a sign from the LORD your God, whether from the depths of Sheol or the heights of heaven.” Isa 37:30Isa 38:7-82Ki 19:292Ki 20:8-11Isa 38:22Jdg 6:36-40Jer 19:10Mat 12:38-40

But Ahaz replied, “I will not ask; I will not test the LORD.” 1Co 10:92Ch 28:222Ki 16:15Act 5:9Deu 6:16Ezk 33:31Mal 3:15

Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my God as well? Isa 43:24Mal 2:17Heb 3:10Jer 6:11Amo 3:13Ezk 16:47Ezk 34:18Isa 63:10 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin 5will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel. 6 Mat 1:23Isa 9:6Luk 1:31Jhn 1:1-2Jhn 1:14Luk 1:351Ti 3:16Isa 8:8 By the time He knows enough to reject evil and choose good, He will be eating curds and honey. Judgment to Come

(Micah 1:1–7)

The LORD will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since the day Ephraim separated from Judah—He will bring the king of Assyria.” Isa 10:5-6Isa 8:7-81Ki 12:16-192Ch 10:16-192Ch 28:19-212Ch 32:1-332Ch 33:112Ch 36:6-20

On that day the LORD will whistle to the flies at the farthest streams of the Nile and to the bees in the land of Assyria. Isa 5:26Deu 1:44Deu 7:20Isa 31:1Jos 24:122Ki 23:33-34Exo 8:21Exo 8:24

And they will all come and settle Isa 2:19Jer 16:162Ch 33:11Isa 2:21Mic 7:17

in the steep ravines and clefts of the rocks,

in all the thornbushes and watering holes.

On that day the Lord will use a razor hired from beyond the Euphrates 7—the king of Assyria—to shave your head and the hair of your legs, and to remove your beard as well. Isa 8:7Ezk 29:18Ezk 5:1-4Isa 10:152Ch 28:20-212Ki 16:7-82Ki 18:13-16Ezk 29:20 On that day a man will raise a young cow and two sheep, Isa 5:17Jer 39:10Isa 17:2Isa 37:30Isa 7:25 and from the abundance of milk they give, he will eat curds; for all who remain in the land will eat curds and honey. Isa 7:152Sa 17:29Mat 3:4

And on that day, in every place that had a thousand vines worth a thousand shekels of silver, 8 only briers and thorns will be found. Isa 5:6Mat 21:33Sng 8:11-12Heb 6:8Isa 32:12-14Jer 4:26 Men will go there with bow and arrow, for the land will be covered with briers and thorns. Gen 27:3 For fear of the briers and thorns, you will no longer traverse the hills once tilled by the hoe; they will become places for oxen to graze and sheep to trample.
