Job: My Redeemer Lives
Then Job answered:
“How long will you torment me 2Pe 2:7-8Jas 3:6-8Jdg 16:16Job 18:2Job 27:2Job 8:2Pro 12:18Pro 18:21
and crush me with your words?
Ten times now you have reproached me; Gen 31:7Dan 1:20Job 15:11-12Job 15:4-6Job 18:4-21Job 19:17Neh 4:12Psa 69:8
you shamelessly mistreat me.
Even if I have truly gone astray, 2Co 5:10Ezk 18:4Pro 9:122Sa 24:17Gal 6:5Job 11:3-6
my error concerns me alone.
If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me Psa 35:26Psa 38:16Psa 55:121Sa 1:6Isa 4:1Jhn 9:2Jhn 9:34Luk 1:25
and use my disgrace against me,
then understand that it is God who has wronged me Job 18:8-10Job 16:11-14Job 27:2Job 7:20Ezk 12:13Ezk 32:3Hos 7:12Lam 1:12-13
and drawn His net around me.
Though I cry out, ‘Violence!’ I get no response; Hab 1:2-3Lam 3:8Job 21:27Job 23:3-7Job 30:20Job 31:35-36Job 34:5Job 40:8
though I call for help, there is no justice.
He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; Job 3:23Lam 3:7Lam 3:9Pro 4:19Psa 88:8Hos 2:6Isa 50:10Jer 13:16
He has veiled my paths with darkness.
He has stripped me of my honor Psa 89:44Job 29:7-14Job 12:17Job 30:1Lam 5:16Psa 89:39Hos 9:11Isa 61:6
and removed the crown from my head.
He tears me down on every side until I am gone; Job 24:20Psa 37:35-362Co 4:8-9Job 12:14Job 1:13-19Job 17:11Job 17:15Job 2:7
He uproots my hope like a tree.
His anger burns against me, Job 13:24Job 16:9Job 33:10Deu 32:22Lam 2:5Psa 89:46Psa 90:7
and He counts me among His enemies.
His troops advance together; Job 30:12Job 16:13Job 16:11Isa 10:5-6Isa 51:23
they construct a ramp against me
and encamp around my tent.
He has removed my brothers from me; Psa 88:8Psa 69:8Psa 88:18Psa 31:11Psa 69:202Ti 4:16Job 16:7Job 6:21-23
my acquaintances have abandoned me.
My kinsmen have failed me, Psa 38:112Sa 16:23Jer 20:10Jhn 13:18Mat 10:21Mic 7:5-6Pro 18:24Psa 55:12-14
and my friends have forgotten me.
My guests and maidservants count me as a stranger; Job 31:31-32Psa 123:3
I am a foreigner in their sight.
I call for my servant, but he does not answer, Job 1:15-17Job 1:19
though I implore him with my own mouth.
My breath is repulsive to my wife, Job 2:9-10Job 17:1
and I am loathsome to my own family.
Even little boys scorn me; 2Ki 2:23Job 30:1Job 30:12Isa 3:5
when I appear, they deride me.
All my best friends despise me, Psa 41:9Psa 109:4-5Psa 55:12-14Job 6:14-15Luk 22:48Psa 38:11Psa 55:20
and those I love have turned against me.
My skin and flesh cling to my bones; Psa 102:5Lam 4:8Job 33:19-22Job 2:4-6Job 30:30Job 7:5Lam 3:4Lam 5:10
I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
Have pity on me, my friends, have pity, Job 1:11Psa 38:21Co 12:26Heb 13:3Job 2:10Job 2:5Job 6:14Job 6:4
for the hand of God has struck me.
Why do you persecute me as God does? Psa 69:26Isa 51:23Job 10:16Job 13:25Job 16:11Job 2:5Job 31:31Mic 3:3
Will you never get enough of my flesh?
I wish that my words were recorded Isa 30:8Isa 8:1Job 31:35
and inscribed in a book,
by an iron stylus on lead, Jer 17:1Deu 27:2-3Deu 27:8Exo 28:11-12Exo 28:21Exo 32:16
or chiseled in stone forever.
But I know that my Redeemer 1lives, Eph 1:7Isa 54:5Psa 78:35Pro 23:11Psa 19:14Jhn 5:22-29Isa 59:20-21Jer 50:34
and in the end He will stand upon the earth. 2
Even after my skin has been destroyed, Mat 5:81Jn 3:2Psa 17:151Co 13:12Rev 1:7Psa 16:111Co 15:53Php 3:21
yet in my flesh 3I will see God.
I will see Him for myself; Psa 73:26Isa 26:19Num 24:17
my eyes will behold Him, and not as a stranger.
How my heart yearns 4within me!
If you say, ‘Let us persecute him, Job 19:221Ki 14:13Psa 69:26
since the root of the matter lies with him, 5’
then you should fear the sword yourselves, Ecc 11:9Ecc 12:14Job 13:7-11Job 15:22Job 22:4Mat 7:1-2Psa 1:5Psa 58:10-11
because wrath brings punishment by the sword,
so that you may know there is a judgment.”
