The LORD Judges the Nations

when I restore Judah and Jerusalem from captivity, ¹

I will gather all the nations Zec 14:2-4 Isa 66:16 Zep 3:8 Ezk 38:22 Ezk 35:10 Ezk 39:11 Jer 25:31 Jol 3:12

and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. ²

There I will enter into judgment against them

concerning My people, My inheritance, Israel,

whom they have scattered among the nations

as they divided up My land.

they bartered a boy for a prostitute

and sold a girl for wine to drink.

Now what do you have against Me, O Tyre, Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Are you rendering against Me a recompense? If you retaliate against Me, I will swiftly and speedily return your recompense upon your heads. Indeed, the LORD has spoken.

“Prepare for war;

rouse the mighty men;

let all the men of war

advance and attack!

and your pruning hooks into spears.

Let the weak say, ‘I am strong!’

and gather yourselves.

Bring down Your mighty ones,

O LORD.

and advance to the Valley of Jehoshaphat,

for there I will sit down

to judge all the nations on every side.

for the harvest is ripe. ⁵

Come, trample the grapes,

for the winepress is full;

the wine vats overflow

in the valley of decision!

For the Day of the LORD is near

in the valley of decision.

and the stars will no longer shine.

The LORD will roar from Zion Amo 1:2 Jol 2:10-11 Jer 25:30-31 Hag 2:6 Isa 42:13 Jer 16:19 Pro 18:10 Ezk 38:19

and raise His voice from Jerusalem;

heaven and earth will tremble.

But the LORD will be a refuge for His people,

a stronghold for the people of Israel.

Blessings for God’s People

Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, Jol 2:27 Isa 52:1 Nam 1:15 Isa 4:3 Rev 21:27 Jer 31:23 Jol 3:21 Zec 14:20-21

who dwells in Zion, My holy mountain.

Jerusalem will be holy,

never again to be overrun by foreigners.

And in that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, Ezk 47:1-12 Isa 35:6 Rev 22:1-2 Zec 14:8 Amo 9:13-14 Isa 30:25 Num 25:1 Isa 41:17-18

and the hills will flow with milk.

All the streams of Judah will run with water,

and a spring will flow from the house of the LORD

to water the Valley of Acacias. ⁶

Egypt will become desolate, Isa 19:1-15 Jer 51:35 Zec 14:18-19 2Th 1:6 Amo 1:11-12 Ezk 25:1-17 Ezk 35:1-15 Isa 11:15

and Edom a desert wasteland,

because of the violence done to the people of Judah,

in whose land they shed innocent blood.

But Judah will be inhabited forever, Ezk 37:25 Isa 33:20 Amo 9:15

and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

For I will avenge their blood, Ezk 36:25 Isa 4:4 Rev 21:3 Ezk 36:29 Ezk 48:35 Jol 3:17 Mat 27:25

which I have not yet avenged. ⁷”

For the LORD dwells in Zion.
