Hallohesh is mentioned in Neh.3.12 and Neh.10.24 as the father of Shallum, who was a leader during the time of Nehemiah. In Neh.3.12, Shallum, the son of Hallohesh, is described as the leader of half the district of Jerusalem. He and his daughters participated in repairing a section of the wall of Jerusalem. The rebuilding of the wall was a significant event in the history of Jerusalem, as it provided security and stability for the city and its inhabitants after the return from Babylonian exile. In Neh.10.24, Hallohesh is listed among the leaders who sealed the covenant to follow the Law of God. This covenant was a solemn agreement by the people to obey God's commands and to support the temple service.
