Shemaiah was a priest who participated in the dedication of Jerusalem's wall during the time of Nehemiah. According to Neh.12.35, Shemaiah the son of Mattaniah, son of Micaiah, son of Zaccur, son of Asaph, was one of the priests who played trumpets during the ceremonial procession on the wall. This event marked the completion of the wall's reconstruction and was a time of great celebration and thanksgiving for the Jewish community.
