Israel’s Stubbornness
“Listen to this, O house of Jacob, Jer 4:2Psa 68:26Deu 6:13Gen 32:28Isa 1:10-14Isa 65:16Jer 5:2Jer 7:9-10
you who are called by the name of Israel,
who have descended from the line of Judah,
who swear by the name of the LORD,
who invoke the God of Israel—
but not in truth or righteousness—
who indeed call yourselves after the holy city Mic 3:11Isa 10:20Isa 52:1Rom 2:17Jer 21:2Mat 27:531Sa 4:3-5Dan 9:24
and lean on the God of Israel;
the LORD of Hosts is His name.
I foretold the former things long ago; Isa 42:9Isa 41:22Jos 21:45Isa 44:7-8Isa 45:21Isa 43:9Isa 46:9-10Jos 23:14-15
they came out of My mouth and I proclaimed them.
Suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.
For I knew that you are stubborn; Act 7:51Exo 32:9Zec 7:11-12Pro 29:1Ezk 3:4-9Rom 2:5Jer 19:15Jer 5:3
your neck is iron and your forehead is bronze.
Therefore I declared it to you long ago; Isa 48:3Luk 1:70Act 15:18Jer 44:15-18Isa 42:8-9Isa 44:7Isa 46:10
I announced it before it came to pass,
so that you could not claim, ‘My idol has done this;
my carved image and molten god has ordained it.’
You have heard these things; look at them all. Rev 4:1Isa 42:9Rom 16:25-26Isa 43:19Isa 43:8-10Jhn 15:15Mat 10:271Co 2:9
Will you not acknowledge them?
From now on I will tell you of new things,
hidden things unknown to you.
They are created now, and not long ago;
you have not heard of them before today.
So you cannot claim,
‘I already knew them!’
You have never heard; you have never understood; Psa 58:3Hos 5:7Ezk 16:3-5Isa 42:19-20Jer 6:10Jhn 12:39-40Mal 2:11Mat 13:13-15
for a long time your ears have not been open.
For I knew how deceitful you are;
you have been called a rebel from birth.
For the sake of My name I will delay My wrath; Psa 79:9Isa 37:35Psa 106:8Psa 143:11Psa 78:381Sa 12:22Dan 9:17-19Ezk 20:14
for the sake of My praise I will restrain it,
so that you will not be cut off.
See, I have refined you, but not as silver; 1Pe 4:12Pro 17:3Job 23:10Heb 12:10-11Psa 66:101Pe 1:7Jer 9:7Mal 3:2-3
I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
For My own sake, My very own sake, I will act; Isa 42:8Ezk 20:9Ezk 20:14Isa 37:351Sa 12:22Ezk 20:22Isa 43:25Jer 14:7
for how can I let Myself be defamed?
I will not yield My glory to another.
Deliverance Promised to Israel
Listen to Me, O Jacob, Isa 41:4Rev 1:8Rev 22:13Isa 44:6Rev 17:14Rom 8:28Isa 43:11Isa 55:3
and Israel, whom I have called:
I am He; I am the first,
and I am the last.
Surely My own hand founded the earth, Heb 1:10-12Psa 102:25Exo 20:11Isa 45:18Isa 40:26Isa 42:5Isa 40:12Psa 119:89-91
and My right hand spread out the heavens;
when I summon them,
they stand up together.
Come together, all of you, and listen: Isa 43:9Isa 13:17-18Jer 50:21-29Isa 13:4-5Isa 41:22Isa 45:20-21Isa 46:10-11Jer 51:20-24
Which of the idols has foretold these things?
The LORD’s chosen ally will carry out His desire against Babylon,
and His arm will be against the Chaldeans. 1
I, even I, have spoken; Jos 1:8Isa 45:1-2Psa 45:4Ezk 1:2
yes, I have called him.
I have brought him,
and he will succeed in his mission.
Come near to Me and listen to this: Jhn 18:20Jhn 20:21-22Isa 45:19Isa 61:1-3Jhn 3:34Isa 11:1-5Luk 4:18Isa 48:3-6
From the beginning I have not spoken in secret;
from the time it happened, I was there.”
And now the Lord GOD has sent me,
accompanied by His Spirit.
Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, Psa 32:8Psa 25:12Job 22:21-22Deu 8:17-18Isa 30:20Psa 73:24Isa 54:13Job 36:22
the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the LORD your God,
who teaches you for your benefit,
who directs you in the way you should go.
If only you had paid attention to My commandments, Deu 5:29Isa 66:12Psa 119:165Psa 81:13-16Deu 32:29Isa 45:8Luk 19:41-42Psa 36:8
your peace would have been like a river,
and your righteousness like waves of the sea.
Your descendants would have been as countless as the sand, Isa 10:22Gen 22:17Hos 1:10Jer 33:22Rom 9:271Ki 9:7Gen 13:16Isa 14:22
and your offspring as numerous as its grains; 2
their name would never be cut off
or eliminated from My presence.”
Leave Babylon! Isa 52:9Jer 50:8Jer 51:45Jer 51:6Rev 18:4Zec 2:6-7Exo 15:1-21Exo 19:4-6
Flee from the Chaldeans!
Declare it with a shout of joy,
proclaim it,
let it go out to the ends of the earth, saying,
“The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!”
They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; Isa 43:19-20Psa 105:41Isa 41:17-18Exo 17:6Isa 35:6-7Num 20:11Psa 78:20Isa 30:25
He made water flow for them from the rock;
He split the rock, and water gushed out.
“There is no peace,” says the LORD, Isa 57:21Job 15:20-24Luk 19:42Rom 3:17
“for the wicked.”
