The Song of the Vineyard
(Luke 13:6–9)
I will sing for my beloved a song of his vineyard: Mrk 12:1Luk 20:9Jhn 15:1Jer 2:21Mat 21:33Psa 80:8Deu 31:19-22Sng 2:16
My beloved had a vineyard
on a very fertile hill.
He dug it up and cleared the stones Jer 2:21Deu 32:32-33Isa 1:2-41Co 9:7Luk 13:6-7Mrk 11:13Rev 14:18-20Luk 20:10-18
and planted the finest vines.
He built a watchtower in the middle
and dug out a winepress as well.
He waited for the vineyard to yield good grapes,
but the fruit it produced was sour!
“And now, O dwellers of Jerusalem Jer 2:4-5Luk 20:15-16Mat 21:40-41Mic 6:2-3Mrk 12:9-12Psa 50:4-6Psa 51:4Rom 2:5
and men of Judah,
I exhort you to judge
between Me and My vineyard.
What more could I have done for My vineyard Mat 23:37Mic 6:3-4Act 7:51-60Jer 2:5Ezk 24:13Isa 1:5Jer 2:30-31Jer 6:29-30
than I already did for it?
Why, when I expected sweet grapes,
did it bring forth sour fruit?
Now I will tell you what I am about to do to My vineyard: Isa 28:18Lam 1:15Luk 21:24Deu 28:49-52Gen 11:4Gen 11:7Isa 10:6Isa 28:3
I will take away its hedge,
and it will be consumed;
I will tear down its wall,
and it will be trampled.
I will make it a wasteland, Isa 7:23-25Jer 25:11Isa 24:1-31Ki 17:12Ch 36:19-21Amo 4:7Deu 28:23-24Deu 29:23
neither pruned nor cultivated,
and thorns and briers will grow up.
I will command the clouds
that rain shall not fall on it.”
