A Righteous King

Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, Isa 9:6-7Heb 1:8-9Jer 33:15Rev 19:112Sa 23:3Ezk 37:24Hos 3:5Isa 11:4

and princes will rule with justice.

Each will be like a shelter from the wind, Isa 25:4Isa 44:3Isa 9:6Isa 41:18Isa 43:20Isa 7:14Mic 5:4-5Psa 143:9

a refuge from the storm,

like streams of water in a dry land,

like the shadow of a great rock in an arid land.

Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, Isa 29:182Co 4:6Act 26:18Isa 35:5-61Jn 2:20-21Isa 29:24Isa 54:13Mrk 7:37

and the ears of those who hear will listen.

The mind of the rash will know and understand, Isa 29:24Luk 21:14-15Act 2:4-12Act 26:9-11Act 4:13Act 6:7Exo 4:11Gal 1:23

and the stammering tongue will speak clearly and fluently.

No longer will a fool be called noble, Isa 5:20Mal 3:18Psa 15:41Sa 25:251Sa 25:3-8Pro 23:6-8

nor a scoundrel be respected.

For a fool speaks foolishness; Mat 15:191Sa 24:13Act 5:3-4Act 8:21-22Isa 3:15Mat 23:13Pro 11:24-261Sa 25:10-11

his mind plots iniquity.

He practices ungodliness

and speaks falsely about the LORD;

he leaves the hungry empty

and deprives the thirsty of drink.

The weapons of the scoundrel are destructive; Jer 5:26-28Act 6:11-13Isa 5:23Mat 26:14-16Mat 26:59-60Psa 64:4-61Ki 21:10-14Isa 1:23

he hatches plots to destroy the poor with lies,

even when the plea of the needy is just.

But a noble man makes honorable plans; 2Sa 9:1-13Act 11:29-30Pro 11:24-252Co 8:22Co 9:6-11Act 9:39Job 31:16-21Luk 6:33-35

he stands up for worthy causes.

The Women of Jerusalem

Stand up, you complacent women; Isa 28:23Isa 3:16Mat 13:9Amo 6:1-6Isa 47:7-8Jdg 9:7Jer 48:11-12Jer 6:2-6

listen to me.

Give ear to my word,

you overconfident daughters.

In a little more than a year you will tremble, Isa 7:23Jer 8:13Hab 3:17Hos 2:12Hos 3:4Isa 16:10Isa 24:7-12Isa 3:17-26

O secure ones.

For the grape harvest will fail

and the fruit harvest will not arrive.

Shudder, you ladies of leisure; Isa 3:24Deu 28:48Hos 2:3Isa 15:3Isa 2:19Isa 2:21Isa 20:4Isa 22:4-5

tremble, you daughters of complacency.

Strip yourselves bare

and put sackcloth around your waists.

Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, Deu 11:11-12Deu 8:7-8Ezk 20:15Ezk 20:6Lam 2:11Lam 4:3-4Nam 2:7

for the fruitful vines,

and for the land of my people, Hos 9:6Isa 22:2Isa 34:13Isa 7:23Hos 10:8Isa 22:12-13Isa 5:6Isa 6:11

overgrown with thorns and briers—

even for every house of merriment

in this city of revelry.

For the palace will be forsaken, Isa 24:10Isa 24:12Isa 25:2Isa 27:102Ki 25:9Isa 13:19-22Isa 24:1-3Isa 34:11-17

the busy city abandoned.

The hill 1and the watchtower will become caves forever—

the delight of wild donkeys

and a pasture for flocks—

until the Spirit is poured out Ezk 39:29Isa 29:17Isa 44:3Tit 3:5-6Luk 24:49Isa 59:19Jol 2:28-29Act 2:33

upon us from on high.

Then the desert will be an orchard,

and the orchard will seem like a forest.

Then justice will inhabit the wilderness, 1Co 6:9-111Pe 2:9-121Pe 4:1-4Hos 3:5Isa 35:8Isa 42:4Isa 56:6-8Isa 60:21

and righteousness will dwell in the fertile field.

The work of righteousness will be peace; Isa 26:3Psa 119:165Jas 3:17-18Php 4:6-9Rom 14:17Psa 85:82Pe 1:10-111Jn 3:18-24

the service of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.

Then my people will dwell in a peaceful place, Zec 2:5Hos 2:18-23Jer 33:16Ezk 34:25-26Isa 33:20-22Isa 35:9-101Jn 4:16Heb 4:9

in safe and secure places of rest.

But hail will level the forest, Isa 28:17Isa 26:5Isa 28:2Isa 30:30Zec 11:2Exo 9:18-26Ezk 13:11-13Isa 10:19

and the city will sink to the depths.

Blessed are those who sow beside abundant waters, Ecc 11:1Isa 30:23-24Isa 55:10-111Co 3:61Co 9:9-11Act 2:41Act 4:4Act 5:14

who let the ox and donkey range freely.
